I’ve spent the last decade building furniture, structures, and gear—starting a furniture business with my wife Molly in 2016 and documenting the work along the way. Most of my time is still spent in the shop or out on a build.
The WhyThis site is a record of ongoing work—projects built by hand, approached intentionally, and shared honestly. The aim is to pass along what’s learned and keep the work going. The work is shared on YouTube, supported through Proven Hands, and carried forward through BenchLore. Each serves a different purpose, but all of it comes from the same place—making things by hand and learning as I go.
