MAKITA 18-Volt Brushless Cordless Circular Saw & Diablo 24T & 60T Blades | Review

Today is all about circular saws and blades! We wouldn't have a workshop without either one of these, and you might be looking to start yours or upgrade your saw. We are here to help. We will be looking at all the features and trying out the Makita 18-Volt X2 LXT Lithium-Ion (36-Volt) Brushless Cordless 7-1/4 in. Circular Saw Kit 5.0Ah.
Starting off, it's battery powered. Not by one, but 2 LXT batteries! This kit does come with both batteries, but if you are already a Makita fan and have 18V batteries, you can have already charged ones ready to go when these run out. The X2 LXT technology delivers more power, speed and run time without the hassles of a cord. X2 LXT technology delivers up to 610 crosscuts per charge in 2x4 SPF lumber and up to 320 crosscuts per charge in 2x10 SPF lumber using two 5.0Ah batteries.
Makita built electronically controlled BL motor delivers 6,000 RPM for maximum performance and 50% longer run time per charge. This means there is an automatic speed change technology that adjusts cutting speed and torque during cut for optimum performance. We all hate dead batteries so this is so nice to have in a saw! Speaking of the BL motor, BL brushless motor eliminates carbon brushes, enabling the BL motor to run cooler and more efficiently for longer life.
The saw also bevels with positive stops at 22.5°, 45°, and 56°. This is super handy when you are out on the job and don't have a table saw with you. And this has a large 2-5/8 cutting capacity at 90°.
One of our favorite features about this saw is the electric break. After you release the trigger, the blade immediately stops turning. This is something that's pretty new and we haven't seen much of, so it's so cool to have. It's also really comfortable to hold and use with the rubberized soft grips handles. There is also a dust port off the back for dust collection when working indoors.
We later tried out the Diablo 6-1/2" X 24T Demo Demon Saw Blade with this saw and it was like butter. We have Diablo blades on almost all of our saws and we love them so much. The lock-tooth technology allows for a strong bond between the carbide tooth and the blade for deep impact resistance and longer life. The pyramid tooth geometry is for superior tracking control and smooth, effortless cuts. The dura-blend carbide for a longer cutting life and a sharper edge. This blade has it all!
Along with the 24T, we also have the 60T Ultra Finish Saw Blade. The TiCo Hi-density carbide is specifically designed for each application to increase performance. The super thin laser cut kerf makes for fast, durable, and clean cuts, I mean, who doesn't want that. And also the tri-metal shock resistant brazing allows carbide tips to withstand extreme impact for maximum durability.
Highly recommend pretty much any Diablo blade.
All in all, this is an awesome saw from everything that's happening inside to how it feels in your hands. Definitely Woodbrew approved ;)
