Personalized Terra Cotta Pots!

Ok, I've got the succulent bug, well really the "That plant is so cute" bug. It's summer time and plants are all over my Instagram feed and I just really need to have them all. To me, what really makes a plant fit into a home is the pot. The pot shape, color, or pattern really needs to fit into the entire esthetic of a home. Dylan is the only one with his own place between the two of us, so you bet your butt that I am going to take advantage of that and decorate the heck out of the entire apartment. Luckily, he doesn't care to much about what goes on in the decor department, so let's have some fun with it.
Over a year ago, we got some succulents and somehow or another I kept them alive. I recently learned you can propagate the leaves of a succulent and grow a whole other plant. This blog post isn't about plants, I just thought I'd give some back story. So with growing a new plant, you need a new pot. I found some really cheap ones at the craft store, so now it's time to personalize these babies. I got a few terra cotta pots for the new plants and for a couple that I already have. SO EXCITED.
The best tool for this kind of job is the Dremel Stylo. This is the ultimate craft tool and it comes with 15 different accessories for all kinds of small crafts. So not only can you engrave these pots, you can engrave wood, metal, glass, and plastic. You can also polish, etch, and sand all kinds of surfaces super easily. For this project, I am using the Diamond wheel ball because it's the perfect one for ceramics.
The thing I like most about this tool is the fact that it's so slim. It really just about has the same feeling as a pencil when holding it in your hand. With the motor running, it has little vibration so you can get into those fine details. This tool is perfect for doing little side hobby projects in the home with its compact motor that keeps it quiet.
These pots were the first thing that came to mind when we got this Dremel Stylo, partly because I've been obsessing over pots for a minute. I can't wait to DIY and make so many more small, at home projects!
